Did you know that the Philippines has 7,107 islands? Now that you do, you might as well know of a Philippine coastal town that boasts of white-sand beaches, crystal-clear water, and world-class diving sites: Panglao, the breathtaking tropical island getaway in the province of Bohol.
Before you go and book hotels in Panglao, Bohol such as Eco Hotels, here are some of the things you should know.
How to get there
If you are coming from another country, you can fly to the Manila, Clark, or Cebu international airports. From these places, there are domestic flights to the city of Tagbilaran, which is Bohol’s capital. Another way to get to Tagbilaran from Manila or Cebu – if you are not pressed for time – is by taking a ferry.
Once in the capital of Bohol, you can travel to your resort or hotel in Panglao by hailing a taxi, tricycle (a motorcycle with a small cab), or the iconic Philippine jeepney.
What to do there
Aside from water activities (swimming, snorkeling, diving, etc.), make the best of your trip to Panglao by enjoying the wildlife. You can visit a bee farm on top of a cliff or cruise down a river at night to watch thousands of fireflies light up the sky.
If you have enough time, try exploring other towns in the province as well. The Chocolate Hills and the tarsier sanctuary are must-sees in Bohol.
When to go there
In terms of weather, the best time to go to Panglao is from December to February. The rainy season (June-October) is over by this time, but the temperature is still relatively cool (22-31°C or 72-88°F).
Additionally, in April and May, considered the summer months in the Philippines, the water and sky are at their clearest and bluest, so this is also a good time to hit the beach. Just be prepared for a very hot and humid weather, though.
So if in the near future you will want to go on a vacation, consider Panglao. There is just so much this coastal town has to offer that it should be your next holiday destination.
